In recent years there are significant local developments in alternative forms of tourism for which the inhabitants have created suitable infrastructure. The church of Saint John with its 13th century icons and the Folk Art Museum of Grilios are located in the town of Anogeia. If you stroll through the alleys and squares of this town you will discover shops selling local textile products, and you may be pleasantly surprised by the spirit of local hospitality with an invitation to taste the raki (local alcoholic drink), pastries, dairy products and meat dishes. Following 15 years of experience Mr. Ares and Mrs. Marina Dayada had a traditional 3-star accommodation unit built at Anogeia.
This unit is built at the centre of Anogeia and is located at the back of the Health Centre. The unit commands a panoramic view of the Cretan landscape and captures every majestic sunrise. In terms of capacity, there are 10 convenient apartments, with single/double/triple rooms, as well as four-room apartments particularly designed for families with children. All apartments have balconies with view, WC with shower or bathtub, kitchen, TV, fireplace, and autonomous heating. The accommodation unit is open year round.
